Calling All Mama Bears!
I am going to make this short and to the point. I received a message in my group chat today that had my blood absolutely boiling. A sister in law of a friend was shopping in a store with her two children. She said that a man and his "wife" were shopping near her, approached her from behind and asked in a joking manner if he could have her two children. She told him no, then he proceeded to follow her asking her repeatedly and even said " what if they are naughty?" and asked her "what about the little one?" which she continually replied no. He then told her that she was "no fun" and then followed her when she got in line. She alerted the workers and asked to have someone escort her to her car. After she was able to gather her thoughts, she did alert the police as well as posted a post on her community page to alert others to be vigilant. On that post she was then attacked for "not taking a picture", for "not videoing him" among other things. I am so tired of seeing the same thing over and over where others are so quick to judge what some did or didn't do in that type of situation. These types of situations are becoming more and more frequent and it is sickening how bold these disgusting, despicable criminals are becoming. I titled this post Calling All Mama Bears because more often than not mothers shopping with more than one child are targeted. So I am asking that we all rise up and combat this together. Whether you want to believe it or not this sort of thing is happening. Human Trafficking is real. We all need to wake up and have each other's backs, not tear each other down for reacting a certain way in that situation. Let us all be vigilant. Use our voices for good. Help each other feel comforted in knowing that if that situation happens to you, that someone in that store is in your corner ready to help. Ready to take that picture, ready to make a scene, or ready to call the police. Know that you can turn to someone and ask for help. There is strength in numbers. I am calling on us all to rise up and fight this together!
