Y'all Need Jesus

I have gone back and forth so many times on whether I should write this post or not. I have sat quietly. I have listened. I have watched. I have studied and I have learned. Every single time I sit down to learn and educate myself on the issues that we are facing today, I come to the same conclusion. Y’all NEED Jesus. I need Jesus. We ALL need Jesus.

What are we doing? What is this country coming to? The hate and the anger has got to stop. How are those emotions serving you? The lack of respect for each other is mind blowing. The lack of respect for human life, our brothers and sisters is sickening. Each and every single time we repeat history the cost is raised. Have we learned nothing from the past? Simply erasing history will not do any good. We have to learn from it. We must learn from others’ mistakes.

Ezra Taft Benson said that “Rights are either God-given as part of the divine plan, or they are granted by government as part of a political plan. If we accept the premise that human rights are granted by the government, then we must be willing to accept the corollary that they can be denied by the government. I, for one shall never accept that premise.” It is pertinent to keep in our minds and hearts the words stated in the Declaration of Independence “ We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” With that being said, I respect your right to raise awareness and to bring light the issues that you feel are important. What I do not respect is Lawlessness in the name of Civil Rights. We are so close to losing our freedom and we don’t even realize it. It is time that we all study and learn the constitution. Can you recognize when something is constitutional or not? I sure can’t. But I am learning. I am studying it daily so that I can. I will no longer sit back silently as the country I love is under attack from within. Stop burning the American Flag. Stop disrespecting those who fought and are still currently fighting for our rights. Stop being so quick to judge another.

Now please don’t think that I am naive enough to believe that we are all going to agree on the matters that are facing our country. I am simply saying that it all begins with you. It begins with me. It begins at home. Set aside your pride and learn. Learn something new. Learn something hard. Learn something that you have been avoiding. Educate yourself to the issues that are present from both sides. Then make an educated decision on your stance and beliefs. Sit down face to face with someone who has different views than you. Learn how to have a conversation and disagreement without name calling or turning to violence.

We are past the point of “Ignorance is bliss”. This is a wake-up call! We have been warned time and time again of these exact things that are happening. When I say we need Jesus, I mean it. He is the only way. The only way to peace. The only way to kindness. The way to empathy and understanding. Come to know him. Come to love him. I personally will be striving every day to follow in his footsteps.
